Erica & Michael

On November 26th 2008, I was heading to a birthday at the local Boston Pizza when a former co-worker invited me over to her place before going to the restaurant. When I walked into her home, there he was, my fiancé. There was something about him. He was just what I was looking for and I wasn't looking for a relationship at all. It's just as I've always heard, "love comes when you least expect it". As we got to know each other more we couldn't help our connection and how quickly we fell in love with each other.

As our 2 year anniversary together was approaching we wanted to do something special together, so we booked a trip to New York City. It was my first time going and since my parents had been in the summer and loved it I had been wanting to go. The weekend we were going was the U.S. Thanksgiving weekend, and we took an 11 hour bus ride over night to spend as much time there as we could. It was an amazing weekend with so much to see! It's funny you don't often hear this but, my fiancé will watch Say Yes to the Dress with me from time to time, and he kept saying "lets go to Kleinfeld's and see Randy", but unfortunately never had the time to get there.

On our actual anniversary date there we packed as much as we could into the day, and made reservations for dinner at Del Frisco's. It was so delicious. Afterwards we walked back through Times Square on the way to the hotel, and like any other tourist took lots of photos. I was just getting ready for bed that night when I walked out of the washroom to find him at the end of the bed, facing me and down on one knee, "Will you marry me?" he asked. I jumped and squeezed him and made one of those girlie squeals and said "of course I will!". Afterwards he told me how he had the ring with him the whole day and he was trying to find the perfect time to do it, like at dinner or in the middle of Times Square, but he got nervous so he did it in the comfort of our hotel room. It was perfect!

At Ellen's Stardust Diner the next morning for breakfast our waitress found out we got engaged and all the staff sang for us and congratulated us! I am so happy to spend the rest of my life learning and experiencing great things with my best friend.
