Junko Yoshioka, (pronounced June-Co) was raised in Japan and named after the month she was born in. From an early age Junko loved to sketch and draw. The childhood pastime developed into a passion for design and fashion.
While studying fashion in Japan at a top design school, Modo Gakuen, Yoshioka won the prestigious award for “Best Wedding Dress.” After completing her schooling she was recruited by Italy’s top fashion houses to create her “neo-classic” ready-wear line for the European market.
In 2002, Yoshioka moved to New York and launched a collection of bridal gowns. Her styles have been featured on the pages of leading bridal publications. Yoshioka has dressed Hollywood celebrities, Jessica Alba, Katherine Heigl, Anna Paquin, Helen Hunt, Jaime Pressly, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Aisha Tyler, Ali Laundry and Claire Forlani and her gowns have graced the red carpets of the Grammy’s, Emmy’s, Oscar’s and Tony’s.
Junko Yoshioka’s, Fall/Winter 2012 collection, was inspired by the cultural movement of the Renaissance period. Bridging the past with the present, her fabric construction masterfully utilizes dimensional laser cut silks, antiqued ombre matelasses and embroidered laces, to create a collection of modern grace and beauty.
