Something Borrowed Love Triangle

Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin talk about their characters in Something Borrowed.

On May 6th, Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin's new film Something Borrowed will hit movie screens.  Based on the popular book by Emily Giffin, the film directed by Luke Greenfield, is a real romantic movie that stays with you and challenges your view on love, friendship, and commitment.

Something Borrowed is the romantic tale of two best friends, who are caught in a complicated love triangle. Rachel (Ginnifer Goodwin) is a talented attorney at a top New York law firm, a generous and loyal friend, and, unhappily, still single...as her engaged best friend Darcy (Kate Hudson) is constantly reminding her. But after celebrating her 30th birthday, perpetual good girl Rachel unexpectedly ends up in the arms of the guy she's had a crush on since law school, Dex (Colin Egglesfield)...who just happens to be Darcy's fiance.

In the real world, hooking up with your best friend’s fiance is the ULTIMATE cardinal sin, especially when she's in the middle of planning her wedding and you’re the "Maid of Honor."

How did Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin feel about portraying these two star-crossed BFFs?

In a recent interview, Goodwin, recently engaged, says, "I was very taken by Rachel, the quintessential nice girl who does some awful things. Rachel has always lived in Darcy's shadow and, in turn, Darcy has always made her life more full. I wanted to explore that."

Kate Hudson offers, "Darcy is all about Darcy. She's the kind of person who says things we wish we could say, who doesn't hold back, who thrives on being the centre of attention. Playing Darcy meant committing to a character that is extremely 'out there' and walking that fine line between what's funny and endearing, versus what could easily become unlikeable, which is always fun. She's definitely no angel."

For two best friends who are suppose to be like sisters, rivalry rears its ugly head between Rachel and Darcy. In fact, Darcy is blindsided by the tragic betrayal between the two people she loves the most, her fiance and BFF.  Darcy's man, Dex the universal dreamboat, Ginnifer Goodwin pegs him as someone Rachel feels is completely out of her league. Just like Adam and Eve, he is the forbidden apple that Rachel can't resist taking a bite out of.

Astrologically, Ginnifer Goodwin is a Gemini and Kate Hudson is an Aries.  In the movie, Rachel's character comes across as a poor obsessed Virgo girl with a mix of people pleasing Libra.  Fun-loving Darcy, seemed like an outspoken Sagittarius girl with a dab of the Leo drama mixed in. For two-timing Dex, he seemed like the classic pretty boy Libra.  Together, they made a delicious combination of cosmic love gone wrong.

Can two best friends survive such a heartbreak? Find out on May 6th, when "Something Borrowed" hits your local movie theater. A fab film to catch with your best girlfriend.
