Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Delectable bite-size delights

Servings: 10-15
Preparation time: 15 mins
Cooking time: 3.5 hours
Cost: in-expensive
ManoMeter - Difficulty:  Easy

Ingredients

• 1kg Lean ground beef
• 236mL (1 cup) bread crumbs
• 2 Eggs
• 118mL (1/2 cup) fresh grated parmesan
• 2 Cloves of crushed garlic
• 5mL (1tsp) oregano
• Dash salt and pepper

Preparation:

Meatballs
Mix above ingredients together in a large bowl. Scoop out a teaspoon of meat mixture (do not worry about approx. measurements here) and roll into a small ball and place on cookie tray. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for fifteen to twenty minutes.

This can be made in advance and frozen until ready to make sweet sauce.

Sauce
In a crock-pot place:
• 1 cup of brown sugar
• 1 cup of water
• 1/2 cup of ketchup
• 1/2 cup of vinegar
• 2 tbsp. of Soya sauce

Mix together in a crock-pot and simmer for three hours until sauce begins to thicken. Add meatballs and simmer until warm enough to eat. Simmer for at least half an hour so that the flavours of the sauce penetrate into the meatballs.

Pairing:
Pair these bad-boys with a merlot,  pinot noir or German ale.

Serving these little delights is the fun part. We lined ours up in rows with toothpicks but you could also pile them high or place them in different graphic arrangements.
