Often nominated for glamour awards by the British Fashion Council for his ready-wear collections, David Fielden is known internationally for his classic, understated and elegant styles.
Always striving for perfection, Fielden has pushed the boundaries of convention in design and garment technology by using modern and often unusual fabrics alongside traditional lace and silks to produce avante-garde, creative, yet still sophisticated gowns. His uncompromising attention to detail, respect for women and appreciation of fine fabrics and silhouettes are all signatures of his label. His ability to inspire and direct a team of creative people around him is what has contributed to his success.
Originally trained as a theatre and costume designer, Fielden became a member of the Ballet Rambert and went on to choreograph his own troupe in Paris. It was while he was struggling as a young dancer that he discovered a horde of beautiful, old clothes dating from the turn of the century. He set up a shop, ‘Antiquarius’ and began a roaring trade in selling antique clothing and wedding dresses.
It was inevitable that the supply of antique dresses would dry up; this led Fielden to design and produce his own collection focusing firstly on wedding dresses and subsequently launching an evening wear line. Fielden’s two lines, Sposa and London are a testimony to Fielden’s impressive ability to continually create stunning and sensual designs.
