eveloped a reputation for staying grounded in his couture construction roots and producing garments possessing quality unachievable by most of his generation.
In 2009, Montezin announced the launch of his new bridal line under the name, Gilles Montezin Bridal.
Montezin's aesthetic has never ceased to entice clients - which include celebrities such as Catherine Zeta-Jones, Madonna, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Mary Tyler Moore, Andrea Mitchell and Debra Messing.

The focus of this collection is the curvature of the female body, featuring classic couture tailoring. The collection also introduces an optional comfortable body shaper, his trademark, 'Le Cinch', corset that helps brides take up to four inches off their waistline. Le Cinch accompanies every dress in the collection.
What makes his collection different - the fabrics of each dress are manipulated to produce textures and opulence while accentuating the female form.
"I soak organza in water, braid and dry it out, then twist and turn it to create whimsical pleats that come to life, creating ethereal looks that enhance a woman's curves," Montezin says.
Keeping with the tradition of Gilles Montezin ready-to-wear collection, each bridal dress has an antique lace lining, intricate stitching, elaborate construction and lush fabrics.
His journey
Gilles Montezin, a French born Canadian, began his design career at Paris's legendary L'ecole de la Haute Couture in France. It was here that Montezin learned the signature techniques held by government-regulated standards of Parisian Haute Couture.
With his training complete, Gilles went on to design era-sensitive costumes at The Opera Bastille where he constructed couture and made-to-order garments under the direction of Paris's most notable designers - Loris Azzaro and Christian Lacroix.
After a long stint in Paris, Gilles Montezin moved to New York to establish his collection. "I'm not looking to make a 'statement,'" Montezin says. 'Whether ready-to-wear or bridal, I'm looking to make women's dreams reality. I'm looking to make women feel and look amazing."
Montezin's collection is offered by select department stores, including Saks Fifth Avenue and Kleinfeld New York.
TheRingBearer.ca had the pleasure of meeting Giles at NYC Bridal Market 2009 for the unveiling of his first collection. We instantly fell in love with his designs which garnered him our 2009 Hot New Designer.
