Q: Why does a bridal couple need a wedding planner?
A: A wedding planner will help relieve the stress that can come with the planning of your special day. A planner is there to keep you on track with your budget, source reputable vendors and make your overall vision of your wedding come to reality. Most of all it can allow you to have more time to enjoy being engaged!
Q: What tips do you have for a bridal couple choosing a wedding planner?
A: Be comfortable. You will be spending a lot of time with your planner so you have to be in a good comfort zone with them. Choose a planner that has a similar style to you, this will help when it comes to executing your vision on your wedding day. Be open from the initial consultation of what your expectations are for your planner and understand that their experience is worth paying for as they're professionals in their field. They're one of the most important vendors.
Q: What is the biggest challenge you have ever faced as a wedding planner and how did you overcome it?
A: As a wedding planner, challenges present themselves during most of your events, whether they’re major or minor what’s most important is how you handle them and the professionalism that's put behind your actions to resolve the issue. A vendor that does not show up to complete a tent set-up for a wedding happening later that day is just another hurdleand sometimes it's all about getting your hands a little dirty.
Q: If you were planning your own wedding, which (TheRingBearer.ca) wedding style best defines your personality and why? (i.e. Seaside, Traditional, Modernist or Country Charm)
A: I would say I am traditional in the sense that I like classic styles that are elegant and very detail oriented.
Q: What is your dream location for a wedding and why?
A: Turks and Caicos – because I love the fantasy of these islands with their beauty and feel of complete relaxation. The colour of the water would be a gorgeous backdrop for any destination dream wedding.
Q: If you could plan a wedding for anyone in the world, past or present, who would it be and why?
A: It would be Madonna. I would love to see if the passion and perfectionism she puts into her music would be echoed in her wedding.
Q: What is your favourite wedding you have planned in 2011 and why?
A: My favourite wedding this year was Jody and Greg’s. They’re an incredible couple whose most important goal for their wedding was to be able to share it with their closest friends and family. The wedding took place at a small resort in Buckhorn, Ontario just outside of Peterborough called the Westwind Inn. The setting was a true reflection of their vision and was the perfect place to host a weekend wedding.
The weekend began with a bonfire luau on the Friday night which was a great way to have the guests mingle and meet one another.
The ceremony was set on the water’s edge which created a wonderful backdrop for photographs. The officiant's vows were beautiful. She did a wonderful job of creating a ceremony that guests enjoyed.
The cocktail hour was held on the dock. Wacky sunglasses, champagne punch and a canoe filled with beer achieved the relaxed northern atmosphere the couple were envisioning. After mingling on the dock the guests were escorted up the stairs to an open air tent for the reception. After dinner, the dance floor was filled with guests until the last song of the night.
It was the perfect wedding for Jody and Greg. There may have been many glitches during the night (ones they will never know about)but it didn't matter as the energy in the room and the love and happiness on everyone's faces made this wedding such a memorable occasion.
